9/26/2023 0 Comments Razors red lantern oath![]() The original character was created by Giancarlo Volpe and Jim Krieg and first appeared in the episode " Beware My Power" of the series Green Lantern: The Animated Series. This version of the character is exclusive to the continuity of the television series Young Justice and its tie-in comic book series.Razer then punched Metron through a Boom Tube and repaired the damage he caused on New Genesis.Īccepting that he has rage and hope in equal parts inside him, Razer parted ways with Kilowog and sent his regards to Hal Jordan, hopeful to continue his quest for Aya. Seeing the damage he caused, Razer decided to put his anger in check, and the Blue Lantern Ring returned to him, allowing him to become a Red/Blue Lantern hybrid. Razer chased Metron through Supertown, wreaking havoc in his way. As expected, Razer embraced his anger again and attacked Metron, who sat there studying Razer's power. ![]() Of course, Metron told him all this to enrage Razer and see the Red Lantern Ring in action. That way, Metron would be able to study the two rings separately. It wasn't until Metron admitted to have manipulated Razer to exchange the red ring in the first place and surreptitiously providing him with false clues that led him to dead ends, keeping him doing "fool's errands" for three years and causing Razer to lose hope and return to the New God. However, the Red Ring didn't react when he put it on. There, he confronted Metron again and exchanged the rings. For that reason, he went to New Genesis to retrieve his Red Lantern Ring and use his rage to power his quest. However, his search was fruitless, and he lost all hope during his travel, rendering his Power Ring useless. It took four years for Razer to reunite with Kilowog. However, a chance meeting with the New God Metron provided a solution: Metron would keep the Red Lantern Ring in his interdimensional vault while Razer continued his quest for Aya. He took the ring as a sign to abandon his anger while still carrying his red ring to prevent another person from being plagued by anger, keeping it a grim reminder of his past. Shortly after they parted ways, Razer encountered a Blue Power Ring powered by hope in deep space. Josh Keaton and Grey Griffin (Hal Jordan and Aya, respectively) aren’t in this week’s episode, but both are regulars on this show as Black Spider, Helga Jeice, and others.During his period as a Red Lantern, Razer met Green Lanterns Kilowog and Hal Jordan. Jason Spisak is two characters in the same episode – Boy Forager and the returning Razer – and Kevin Michael Richardson picks up where he left off a decade ago with Kilowog after spending a good chunk of the first half of the season as Nabu. The subtle fun of this episode is the slow realization first that they kept the same voice actors as the GL show, and then that they used those same voices because they were already working on Young Justice. Girl Forager gets inadvertently hurt, powering Razer’s fury even more, but he also manages to rip the blue ring out of Metron’s containment field and wear both rings at the same time, reworking his red costume into a slashy, blue-red mix that looks like Lantern Corps Zubaz, something I said at first as a joke but now really want in my life. Razer and Metron’s encounter culminates in a big flying fight through Supertown. As was the case last week, the classic New Gods lore here is great, as Metron is a giant asswipe in both the original Kirby comics and this episode. Metron spent four years studying the red ring and goading Razer into losing hope, so he could swap out the rings and study the blue one. ![]() He felt that his rage was complicating his search, so he handed the red ring to Metron, jerkiest of the New Gods, for safekeeping. He never finished his quest (even whispering Aya’s name at the very end of the episode), but he did give up his Red Lantern ring when the Blue ring found him. About to die, because his ring, powered by hope, isn’t working anymore because he’s all out.įrom there, the show more or less completely integrates Razer’s story from Green Lantern: The Animated Series into Young Justice continuity. The Lanterns respond to a distress call from elsewhere in that solar system and find…Razer. ![]() Kilowog and Tomar Re are heading to New Genesis for a summit with the New Gods, Rocket, and Jay Garrick about an alliance to fight Darkseid’s game playing on Earth.
